Acting Chief Inspector Cradock was severely wounded in 1876 in executing his duty. He received one wound over the ball of the right thumb, another over the right wrist -- severing the radial vessels and nerves which would incapacitate him from his previous employment, he has considerable loss of sensation below the wound but suffers from neuralgic pains above the wound and up the arm.
