General has now reported that Mr G. S. Northcote has performed the duties of Assistant Postmaster General during the past two months, satisfactorily and conscientiously and has recommended his appointment to the permanent post.

I have accordingly, provisionally and subject to Your Lordship's approval, appointed Mr Northcote to be Assistant Postmaster General; on a salary of $2,400 per annum.

To fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Northcote's transfer to the Post Office, Sir William Des Vœux appointed Mr E. S.
