that withdrawing is an extremely difficult thing always, but more especially where the extraordinary course is taken of publishing a letter of this kind almost simultaneously with its receipt. But it is scarcely necessary to tell you that when you feel as you must now do, that your position is a wrong one, it shows the highest moral courage not to hold to it but to withdraw from it.
