seriously wounded in the execution of his duty on the 12th October 1879 causing permanent injury to the capacity of the right lung owing to permanent adhesion to side; see medical certificate in C.O. 8411. De 1761 of 1879.
I also certify that he received a wound on the 16th January 1899 to the left little finger from a laceration by a prisoner, which resulted in the loss of the top joint and permanent deformity, the finger being stiff and sticking out straight when the fist is closed; see certificate in C.O. 8411. No 1178 of 1877.
Of late he has been suffering seriously and continuously from insomnia and has become much debilitated.
