3. That you were adjudicated bankrupt on or about the 22nd instant.

and desired to request that on or before the 8th of January next you will send to this office for His Excellency's information a statement in writing of any grounds on which you rely to exculpate yourself from the above charges, when the question of your suspension from the exercise of your office will be considered by His Excellency.

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter No. 3360 dated 30th December last, informing me that the Honourable the Surveyor General had preferred charges against me regarding my conduct as an officer of the Public Works Department.

1st That I had absented myself from office since the 24th November last without any justification or excuse. It is a matter I respectfully claim to be the subject of a very long explanation.
