Colonial Secretary's Office, Hong Kong, 8th January, 1890.
I am directed by the Governor, Sir G. William Des Vœux to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of October last, and to state that the note forwarded therein has been duly handed to your two children by H. B. M. Consul at Canton. They are well, and seem to be cared for.
