In accordance with the recommendation of the Committee, the general increase in salaries should be accompanied by withdrawal of the privilege enjoyed by a few officers of making Family Remittance, at the rate of 4/2 to the dollar, and in future, such officers' remittances cannot be allowed in any higher rate than that of the market.

This despatch operates for salaries, and pensions, and leave will also be a rule for all new appointments to the service & for all future promotions to any offices receiving at least 14% increase. Such officers, on the other hand, who receive no increase or an increase less than 14% to their present emoluments will continue to be entitled to the 4/2 rate of Exchange for remittances, so long as they hold their present appointments in the same salaries.
