In the document submitted to the Commission above referred to (Hongtoy(50)877) I pointed out, that for a man, who had obtained several University distinctions at Oxford, and had been appointed head of a College of good boys in a distant colony, a salary of even one thousand pounds could not have been considered excessive, when it is remembered that many Head Masters of schools of 300 (and even fewer) boys obtain such salary in England.
