I think justified in the increased salary in his case was approved. I can hardly think, unless the Administration has saved something by such approval.

that?

But I think it must be withdrawn subject to the conditions made in case of the other increases of salary.

that in the event of Mr. Chapman hereafter becoming a permanent officer (he is now only engaged for 3 years) his leave salary shall be payable at 4/- and his pension at 3/5 to the Dollar.

W. Chapman appears to be Memorializing through Lending ein a hout after waiting for a fortnight to cause him to report, observing the purport of this letter was that the increased salary was not brought to the Establishment despatch, "but suggesting subject to anything he has to say on the subject that 'Mr. Chapman should be treated as above' [marked A]."

That as regards the value of the dollar question referred to in par. 1 of his Memorial, Int. J. has no grievance, since in par. 4 of his Agreement with you Cagents (19635/29) he agreed to make no claim in respect of any fluctuation in the value of the Dollar.

I am to inform you that the matter will be dealt with as soon as the Acting Governor's report on the subject is received.
