received this morning from Mr. Nicolle a material bearing upon the

probable charges against the Audit Vote of $10,000 for the present year. It appears from this letter that the Salaries of all the Clerks in the old Audit Office have been charged to that Vote up to 30th April, and the local Auditor has been informed by the Colonial Secretary that "the future charges for these Salaries, to the end of the year, have to be charged in the same way, as there is no other provision for them in the Estimates."
