I do not think the proposal of the Surveyor General would give satisfactory results or that a Surveyor competent to undertake the triangulation & superintend the survey could be obtained for the sum of £400 to £600 Salary a year. In all Surveys for land Registry accuracy is of the greatest importance & much expense trouble & inconvenience are saved by making an accurate Survey in the first instance.
I have consulted with Major Jolinstone R.E. an Officer of large Survey experience, who has recently returned from Hong Kong: He recommends that the closely built portion of the Town be surveyed (on the 1:500 scale).
