I am directed by His Excellency the Major General Commanding to request with reference to a despatch from the Secretary of State for the Colonies to His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government dated 18th July 1890, a copy of which has been forwarded by the War Office to the Major General Commanding, that I may be informed whether the Government is now prepared to make such further payments as may be requisitioned for on account of the Colonial Defence Contribution up to the amount of £116,000, calculated at the market rate of exchange at the date of each payment.
