Government, and instructions have been sent to the General that, as soon as the water is laid on to the Barracks, the restrictions as regards the disposal of land south of Kennedy Road may be removed.

Subsequently to the dispatch of the telegram before alluded to, a letter has been received from the General Officer commanding from which it appears that the Colonial Government are introducing a new Water works Ordinance, which will, apparently, affect the interests of the War Department.

Mr. Secretary Stanhope trusts that Lord Knutsford will cause instructions to be given with a view to the new Ordinance being so drawn up as not to affect in any way the interests of the War Department.
