money from Army funds to save the credit of the Mar Department with the Contractors though, from the details furnished from the Station, out of Colonial Vote of £116,000 has not been fully expended by several thousands pounds, and Lord Stanhope is desirous that within the £115,000 net, the Colony should as early as possible repay the advances.

The matter is somewhat complicated by the Course adopted at the station (apparently agreed to by the Colonial and the Military Authorities) of keeping the force accounts on a cash basis.

Towards its close there is a balance in the account showing if it were in credit of £16,000.
