Mr. George Peebles was appointed a Shipwright and Engineer Surveyor (3rd Class) on 1st February, 1884, at a salary of Two hundred pounds (£200) per annum, rising to three hundred pounds (£300) per annum. His present salary is Two hundred and sixty pounds (£260) per annum.
Mr Peebles is qualified to measure vessels for tonnage; to inspect Lights, Fog Signals, and crew spaces; survey steam ships for Passenger Certificates; and to examine Candidates for Certificates of Competency as Sea-going Engineers.
