Crave should be obtained in this Country and not in Hong Kong as proposed by Mr Brown. In the 6th paragraph of his report Mr Brown writes "As regards the Floating Crave and Steam Ing I cannot too strongly urge that I may be authorised to enter into a contract with the Dock Company without further delay". The Officer Administering the Government does not say whether this authority was given and the land Crave, with which Sir John Coode considers the Floating Crave should be identical, has been ordered here, I suggest that Mr. Fleming be told by telegram that the Consulting Engineer recommends that the Floating Crane should be made here and be asked whether any steps have been taken to obtain it locally.
