fotot day of March One thousand eight hundred and ninety Between The Undersigned One of the Crown Agents for the Colonies of Doroning Sheet Westminster in the County of Middlesex acting for and on behalf of The Government of Hong Kong (hereinafter called the Government) of the one part and Hugh Pollock Tooker of 8 Palm Hill, Claughton Birkenhead in the County of Chester of the other part:
Whereby it is agreed by and between the parties hereto as follows.
1. The said Hugh Pollock Tocker shall be appointed an Executive Engineer in the Public Works Department of the Colony of Hong Kong.
2. The period of service shall be for Three years commencing from the date of arrival in Hong Kong and he will be placed under the Orders of the Surveyor General of the Colony.
3. The salary to be paid to the said Hugh Pollock Tooker shall be at the rate of Three thousand dollars ($3,000) per annum with a Chair allowance of Twenty four dollars ($24) per month; half salary to commence from date of leaving England and full salary and the Chair allowance from the date of arrival in the Colony.
4. The Government shall have power at any time to terminate this Agreement upon giving to the said Hugh Pollock Tooker three months' notice in writing or paying him a sum equal to three months' salary in lieu of such notice.
5. A free first-class passage shall be provided for the said Hugh Pollock Tooker to Hong Kong and on
