I am directed by the Secy of State for War to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, 41748 of 10th ult, transmitting copies of correspondence relative to the Grant from Naval Funds to the Lock Hospital at Hong Kong; and to acquaint you in reply, for the information of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, that Mr Secretary Stanhope concurs in the views expressed generally therein proposing the reducing of the present grant from £250 to £100 a year, from the 1st January, 1891.

I am to add, in reply to the enquiry in the second paragraph of your letter, that the contribution now made from Army Funds to Lock Hospitals abroad is one of £100 to the Civil Hospital at Gibraltar, for Lock Hospital purposes.
