Hospital, Jam to observe that the Admiralty contribution in this case is in Sense made of the army on behalf as well as the Navy, owing to the arrangement made many years ago under which the W.O. agreed to deal with Lock Hospitals in certain Colonies while the Admiralty dealt with those in other Colonies. Further to your letter dated 17th Aug. 1868 of which copy is enclosed, and to refer to your letter L. 1113 dated 13 June 1868 stating that their Lordships were unable to contribute to the Lock Hospital at Gibraltar, because "under the existing arrangements between the Adm. & the W.O., that Dept takes the charge of contributing to the Lock Hospital at Gibraltar".
