REPORT on Ordinance 30 of 1881

I have examined the accompanying Ordinance, entitled "An Ordinance to provide for and regulate a Pension Fund for widows and children of Public Officers of the Colony", and am of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to the Governor's Instructions. This Ordinance has been passed at the request of the Secretary of State to provide a pension for the widows and orphans of the members of the Civil Service.

This Ordinance is based on the Ceylon Ordinance. A few verbal changes have been made. In the definition of the words "Public Officer" or the phrase "any officer who is in receipt of a yearly salary or pension of $240" the words "or pension" have
