It was not my intention that the privilege of Family Remittances at the market rate of exchange in dollars should be withdrawn except in cases where the increase of salary now granted will more than cover the loss caused by the withdrawal of this privilege.

I am willing to allow that those who will receive less than 20 per cent increase on their 1890 salaries may retain the privilege, but I adhere to the decision that it should be withdrawn in the case of those officers who are receiving as much as 20 per cent increase. Those who retain the privilege under this arrangement will be so informed.

Agreed by: Russell, Alves, & Messrs McLeod, Rae, Trumble, Travers, Sangster, Ball, Ford, Deane, Horsfool, Cradock, Mathern, Swanston & Corcoran, Bremmer.

I request Jonas to send home as soon as possible a revised Schedule for the guidance of officers.
