Mr. S. Barff, Sept Rys, wrt Supreme Court

Seuss letter from Liverpool asking whether it is intended that he should act as sole Registrar.

(Minutes.)

W. Meade

(I don't know whether this need wait for M. Branston)

When the staff of the Supreme Court was reorganized (see 21144/87) two deputy Registrars were appointed, one (W. Barff) to be styled Deputy Registrar & Accountant and the other (M. Sangster) to be styled Deputy Registrar and Appraiser.

I understand M. Barff's complaint to mean this: that when in 1888 he was granted vacation leave, M. Sangster declined to perform temporarily the double duty, but it looks as if the two may have had good reasons.
