| future salaries & those for offices & of the office of Registrar General I will express no final opinion, pending the receipt of the Estimates for 1891, when I shall be able to consider them in relation to the salaries of other Justices.

3. I see no reason to reconsider my decision that the emoluments of the P. M. G. should be fixed at $3600 with free quarters, which in fact increase the regular emoluments of the former holder of the office, viz. $3040 without quarters, for as I pointed out in par. 30 of my despatch No. 205 of 26th Sept. Capt. M. Lister ought to have been charged rent for the Master Attendant's quarters which he occupied.

Moreover M. Travers will receive more extensive quarters than the limited accommodation allowed to M. Lister.

4. I will await the further receipt of the promised despatch containing recommendations in regard to filling the vacant post.
