on the subject that a saving large should accrue to the Lot holders. I therefore venture to submit for His Excellency's favourable consideration that some remuneration should be allowed me, to be charged against the Praya fund, for these additional duties which I submit, are not included in those usually devolving on a Government Engineer. I should add that as to the Ordinance, according the cost of superintendence of the Praya works is paid by the Lot holders, any remuneration that may be allowed me would be chargeable to the Praya fund, in the same manner as the salaries of other members of the Praya Staff.

As regards the amount of such remuneration I desire to leave the matter entirely in the hands of Government, but I would venture to suggest that the opinion of some eminent professional adviser, familiar with the methods usually adopted for carrying out large works of a similar nature, should be taken and that regard be had to the onerous nature of the duties performed, and the magnitude of the Praya works. I would however respectfully request that.
