Lazarette

Cotter's Island, from which I note

that this Government will

receive as

compensation

in

an

amount equivalent to the cost of the building in question.

It is unfortunate that

it should have been considered

necessary to remove the Lazarette

as it has been

found

impossible to find a suitable site for it elsewhere,

and the construction of a hulk has involved the Colony in large expense.

I find that in 1888

a mixed Board of Civil and

Military Officers was appointed to consider the question of the removal of the Lazaretto from Stonecutters Island.

In their report, copy of which is in Enclosures 1888, it was recommended that a hulk should
