in the answers to 554 and 35

received from the Colonial Secretary on the 9th of September 1873 and 12th of January 1874 respectively

The

very

considerations

that were explained in the petition and approved of, when the Sanitarium was to be built, exciting still now,

and

being

even magnified by the

fact that there is no proportion

between the

sum we

were bound to expend

on

the premises for building purposes, according to the terms of the Concession

and the real expenditure

up to the present time; moreover, as the intended improvements on the new piece of land will involve

appreciable outlay, and be beneficial not only to us, but also to the rather unhealthy district of

Pokfulum

we

trust His Excellency

will feel inclined to receive

favourably

our request, and so

use his influence with the

Authorities, that the lease of ground

applied for will be granted for the full period of nine hundred and ninety-nine years.

I have &c.

L. I. Stolhann.

Supt. of the Sanitarium

Corrected OCR output: - "recaved" -> "received" - "niknsified" -> "magnified" - "vairumam sum ue" -> "sum we" - "πν" -> "on" - "ན" -> (removed, as it appears to be a non-relevant character) - "prust" -> "trust" - "favererably" -> "favourably" - "Jokfulum" -> "Pokfulum" - "torne" -> "the" - "&c." is kept as it is an abbreviation commonly used in historical documents, equivalent to "etc." or "and so forth." - Other minor spacing and formatting issues corrected.
