Enclosure 2.

113

Aching Postmaster General to Act. Col. Secretary

Copy

Hon: Acting Colonial Secretary.

The attention of Government has more than once been drawn to the existence of Chinese Post Offices in Hongkong, and as these offices are on the increase, I venture, upon the strength of His Excellency's minute of 29th of April C.A.O. A. 2464 of 1889, to bring the matter under notice again.

I beg to point out that the Chinese Postmasters, though interviewed and warned by the Acting Registrar General on the 25th of May 1889, (vide C.A.O. No 2804 of 1888) have contrived to infringe the law which is thereby being brought into contempt.
