a communication through

the Surveyor General, copy

of which I enclose.

As Mr. Boulton

declines to give

the information

the application I forwarded

for the

favourable consideration

of Your Lordship.

It is

very necessary

that public confidence

should exist respecting the transactions of officers

connected with the

Surveyor General's Department, & and this is not likely to be increased by clandestine arrangements such as the

one
