Your Lordship that, with the advice of the Executive Council, I propose with Your Lordship's approval to allow Mr Ribeiro, 1st (formerly 2nd) Clerk in the Audit Office to retire on a pension equal to one half of his salary.

Mr Ribeiro entered the service of this Colony on the 10th of June 1869. His present service therefore, with the addition of five years under the authority of the pension regulations, counts as 26 years and 2 months, and it is proposed to allow him to count 30 years so as to entitle him to the pension above mentioned.

Mr Ribeiro is 58 years of age and suffers from deafness. His speech too is incoherent, and both the Acting Colonial Secretary and the Local Auditor are of opinion that, although he cannot be considered as altogether unfit for further work, it is desirable that he should retire.
