The Civil Hospital is frequently used by private patients every year, and I am considering how the accommodation for such patients can be increased.
This speaks well for those who are in charge of the institution and, in my opinion, I can offer no better endorsement than to state that I am fully prepared to endorse the statement of D. Ayres that the Superintendent, Dr. Atkinson, is a most able and energetic officer.
His description of the treatment in severe cases of remittent fever in enclosure No. 1 of the Report is very interesting. I venture to think that there have been few cases in which recovery has been found.
