Lordship had been good enough to make regarding the supply of subsidiary coins to this Colony, I have the honour to inform Your Lordship that a letter has been received from the Crown Agents stating that of the $1,000,000 worth of subsidiary coins required by the Colony during the current year, $800,000 would be shipped by the beginning of October, and that it was hoped it would be found possible to ship the balance of $200,000 so as to arrive here by the 1st of January.
2. The Acting Colonial Treasurer has, however, reported that he fears the consignment timed to arrive on the 1st of January will not be sufficient to meet the large demand always made for these coins at the Chinese New Year.
