I have the honour to transmit, for the information of the Local Government Board, the enclosed copies of reports from the Naval and Military Authorities in this Colony relative to the epidemic influenza, together with copies of the Enclosures, schedule of questions which accompanied your despatch, filled in by the Colonial Surgeon and two physicians enjoying the largest practices here.

I have been informed that an epidemic of influenza occurred on board one of the Chinese Squadron while lying off Hongkong last winter, and I wrote sometime ago to Sir Robert Hart, requesting him to be good enough to obtain a report on the subject from the European Surgeon in charge of the Squadron. I have not as yet received a reply.
