I was Acting Postmaster General for eight months. After 14 years' service as Assistant Postmaster General, I was appointed Accountant and Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court.
As a former Accountant of the Ionian Bank in Greece, counting the money in the Cashier's hand was my duty once a week, and I am convinced that defalcations in the Post Office would not be likely to take place if the office were under my supervision.
During the 21 years I have been in the service, not a single complaint has been made against me either by my Heads of Department, the Public, or the Press.
As Collector of Stamp Revenue, my experience as a Bank accountant, and 8 years as Accountant and Deputy Registrar, render me competent to manage that Department perfectly. I shall be prepared to provide the proper amount of security.
Trusting that His Excellency the Administrator may be pleased to recommend my application to the Secretary of State.
I have &c.
