accountable for that.

Mr Mitchell-Juneo,

whose permanent post is that

of Assistant Colonial Secretary,

was

acting for the Registrar General during

Mr. Lockhart's absence. He is a

member of the English Bar and

a

zealous and active public

officer. He has not been

connected with the Postal

Department in the same

way

as has Mr. Travers, but I have

little doubt that he would be

perfectly competent to fill the

office of Postmaster General.

Mr. Sercombe Smith

has

diverse

during

the last seven

years

held various acting appointments

entered the service as

Cadet

and has been

filling

the place

since 1884, he served for

a short

time

in the

office
