I have the honour to place my name before Your Lordship as a candidate for the office of Colonial Treasurer vacant by the death of the Honourable Alfred Lister.
As I have on previous occasions laid a detailed statement of my services and the testimonials which I have received before Your Lordship, I deem it unnecessary to repeat them here but will merely state that as I am the oldest public servant in the Colony I most respectfully submit that on this and the other grounds set forth in my recent application for promotion, the present request is deserving of Your Lordship's most favourable consideration.
Mr Alexander, one of my predecessors in the office of Registrar, held the appointment of Colonial Treasurer from December 1867 to December 1868.
