By letter from the Acting Colonial Secretary, the undersigned were appointed to examine into the working of the Money Order Branch of the Post Office, and into the accounts thereof.

We were directed to make as exhaustive an enquiry as possible to ascertain how it could have taken place the defalcations which have taken place. We have examined Mr. Lister, the Postmaster General,

and have carefully inspected the books kept in that branch, certain vouchers, receipts from the Post Office and Audit Office and the Collector's Accounts. We requested Mr. Freire
