The salary of the Postmaster General is $3,840 in addition to which he receives ₤100 a year from the Imperial funds, and he is provided with free quarters. The pay of the Collector of Stamps is $960. If Your Lordship's scheme for the increase of salaries be carried out there will be an increase of 35% on $3,800 and on $960, amounting to $1,680 exclusive of what may be considered the value of the free quarters. The salary of the Colonial Treasurer was fixed by Ordinance No. 13 of 1860 establishing a Civil List at £400 a year which was afterwards raised to £1000, the post being held previously to 1870 separately from any other.
