Sir,

In reply to your letter of the 11th instant relative to the remuneration attaching to your appointment as Assistant Harbour Master, I am directed by the Officer Administering the Government to inform you that on the recommendation of Sir William Des Voeux, it was decided by the Secretary of State for the Colonies that the salary of the Chief Harbour Master should be consolidated, and that in place of amounting to $1920, one thousand nine hundred and twenty dollars for Commander Hastings, R.N., Commanding as Assistant Harbour Master.
