Governor accepted. office of Assistant Harbour Master at Hong Kong, I have the honour to forward to you an extract (paragraphs 1-2) from Lord Stanhope's despatch to the Governor of the Windward Islands and the particulars of the office.
Upon your entering into the usual agreement to serve the Colony of Hong Kong for three years, I shall be prepared to advance you the sum of £250, which is approximately what the passage of yourself and family will cost between here and there.
