I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your despatch of yesterday's date requesting on behalf of the Hongkong Government explanations in regard to a very serious invasion of British Territory on the part of a Customs Cruizer, and expressing regret that I did not apparently appreciate the gravity of the question.
