suggested by

an

that this practice, which

some time past

has

been discontinued, should

be revived inasmuch

it resulted in

a

considerable saving of time. But to this I

was

decidedly opposed. I

considered that in the

first place it would be contrary

to what had been required by the Standing Orders, and secondly that it would be a dangerous

practice to adopt.

was desirous, however,

of meeting,

in

so

far as

I could, the wishes of the

unofficial members, and, after conferring with the

Attorney General on the subject,

we were

of opinion

that it might not be

objectionable to follow
