to ask the Council to vote
a sum,

the expenses

probably be incurred this
year, if steps
are taken to
carry out the survey before
the year expires, which proposal the Council have readily agreed to.

In the memorandum
on the subject by Sir Charles Wilson, enclosed in Mr. Primrose's letter to the Colonial Office of the 20th of January, the cost of the survey is estimated at about £3,000 spread over three seasons, and it was on these figures that the sum of $3,000 was calculated as the expenditure of this year.
