Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter No. 768 of the 10th instant, informing me of the telegram from Secretary of State stating : — "Passage cannot be provided for Acting Chaplain, doubtless Bishop can provide locally for divine Service during absence of Mr Jennings."

I beg now to repeat, with reference to the latter portion of this telegram, what I had stated to His Excellency the Governor before he left for England, viz: - that the Bishop distinctly informed me that it was impossible in the Colony, so far...
