Statement

Secondary Schools in Hong Kong, in 1889, copy of which I enclose, and that the Victoria College is in danger of falling behind is evidenced by the fact that at the last public competition for Belilios Medals (December 28, 1889) when 16 boys from Victoria College competed with 13 boys from the Schools mentioned in the annexed Comparative Statement, the best competitors from the Victoria College barely gained the fifth prize, the first and second being carried off by boys of the Hongkong Public School, the third and fourth by boys from St. Joseph's College.
