With reference to the letter of the Colonial Secretary, No. 28/8, dated 16th December 1889, requesting information as to the sum expended on the Fortifications at this Station, for which the account of £116,000 was voted by the Colonial Legislature, I have the honour to forward herewith a statement which has been prepared for the information of the Secretary of State for War, together with an extract from the letter of H.E. the Major General Commanding, dated 18th January 1890, which will, I hope, supply the information required by H.E. the Governor.
