It appears from the above statement that a sum of approximately £7,500 is still available for the completion of the works. To this is to be added any sums which may be received for the steam launch "Ubique" or for stores in hand on the completion of the works.
I have only dealt here with the actual expenditure, without considering any balance which may now be in the hands of the Military Paymaster.
I have not entered into any questions connected with the sufficiency or otherwise of the sum voted to carry out all the works which may be desirable, as this is a matter for the consideration and decision of higher authority, but I may say that I have no reason at present to anticipate that the works already undertaken will involve an excess on the vote.
