the estimated cost

General Edward's letter.

address your Lordship on the subject of the desirability of organizing a Machine Gun Corps, when he was
about to have the honour.

raised therein, and enclose
copy of his reply.
8. General Edwards is strongly
in favour of the Machine Gun Corps, and considers (Sir William
Des Voeux
agreeing
with him)
that such a
Corps would be
more useful in defending
the Island than
Artillery Corps.
The latter he thinks should be placed under the control of the General Officer Commanding and considers that if this were done, it would be quite
possible
