The Committee reported that the number of men who had attested to the Report; "are not so large as the Committee had hoped to be able to secure, but they nevertheless afford an adequate strength for the formation of both cars, corp." and the Committee expressed their confident belief that the organisation and arming of the men, would lead at once to a considerable increase in numbers.

The Committee further reported that they had succeeded in obtaining from four influential members of the community, Mr. C. P. Chater, Mr. W. H. N. Mody, Mr. J. D. Humphreys, and Mr. D. E. Sassoon, a promise that each of them would present to the Corps, when formed, a Brougham Gun fitted complete for service.

This Report was considered in Executive Council on the 14th of January, and the Council advised that the above-named gentlemen should be thanked for their generous offer, but that "the Guns should be purchased by the Government at the cost of the Colony."
