In presence of Mr Nicolle's remarks I considered the best way was to make an announcement that Mr Nicolle had been appointed Local Auditor, leaving out by whom the appointment was made.

As Mr Nicolle's exact status does not appear to have been clearly laid down, I should be obliged if Your Lordship would be good enough to inform me what his position is, as under present circumstances questions as to leave and other matters might arise, which it would be difficult to decide in the absence of detailed instructions.
