Reclamation Fund, at present in the custody of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank, I beg to inform Your Lordship that I at once gave carrying out orders for the transfer in accordance with your instructions. This involved giving notice to the Manager of the Bank in question that a considerable portion of the deposit alluded to would be removed therefrom.

Mr Wade Gardner, the Acting Manager, thereupon addressed a letter to me on the subject in consequence of which I forwarded to Your Lordship on the 21st instant a telegram as follows:

Referring to your telegram No. 7388 dated 12th April, balance in hand may remain with Bank of Hongkong pending receipt of further instructions.
